Hannah

As I previously said, I have a lot to post, so I am going to break them up. The first one is on Hannah. Hannah is doing great! She caught Kate's fever about 24 hours later, but quickly recovered with some Tylenol and TLC. She weighed just over 14 1/2 lbs. at her doctor's visit. As concerned as I am about her not gaining weight as quickly as Kate does, the doctor said that she had a good weight gain. Her length was 26 inches. I think she had a length growth spurt in the last couple of months because she is almost as long as Kate is, but her body is more slender. Hannah spent a good part of our Wal-Mart trip yesterday babbling "da-da". She has also learned how to "crawl." She hasn't quite mastered a real crawl, but she moves her hands like she is trying to go forward. She does know how to get around by belly crawling though. Hannah is a little busybee. Always wanting to move.

The pediatrician did tell me that it was time to take the bumper pads off of the crib. Another reminder that they are going to be "big girls" soon. The cribs look so bare without them and we have had a couple of bouts of stuck limbs and bumped heads. Great Grandma Thoenes & Hannah

Hannah recovering from her fever. She loves to sit in things sideways.

I went in to check on her the other night after putting her to bed and this is what I found.

We are up and running...literally

We finally got the internet back on Saturday after I made George call Verizon. He started throwing around managers' names and MAGIC...we had one of his old co-workers show up at our door about 2 hours later. Isn't it amazing how name dropping can work? It turns out that Verizon still wasn't sending us a new router because we were going to have to pay for it because our old one wasn't under warranty anymore. Thanks, genius...but when were you going to bother to tell us you weren't sending us one? Only when we called back! Great customer service, eh (that "eh" is for all of my Canadian folk out there)? Sometimes I catch myself saying it when I've been around my in-laws for an extended period of time. I do want to note though that the Verizon tech who fixed our internet on Saturday was WONDERFUL (and this was before he realized who he was actually doing work for)!! I am only ranting about the people who are hundreds of miles away on the phone. The Verizon guys who actually work in the field are great...not that I am biased or anything. Anyway, it turns out that the problem was much bigger than our router. The whole Verizon box on the side of our house got hit by lightning so not only did it fry all of the FIOS stuff (don't you love my specificity), but also our computer's net card. So our big computer is currently being doctored at Best Buy. I'm going to pick it up later and as soon as I get some downtime I will be writing multiple posts as we have had many things happen this past week.

When I said I was literally running...that's how I feel these days. My brother is getting married this Saturday so we have a lot of family visiting. Between that, chasing 2 MOBILE babies (yes, I mean mobile), and fulfilling the normal duties of motherhood and wifedom, I am busy and tired. I am going to break my posts up into different topics though so I don't overload you with information and it's easier to read when it's grouped together. Hopefully, I'll have at least one up by tonight (especially for my Central Asia reader-we prayed for you last night before we went to bed).

Internet Down

Just in case you have tried to e-mail me recently or are expecting a blog update...thanks to lovely Verizon we have no internet. A lightning storm hit our router on Friday night. I called Verizon on Saturday morning and was assured I would have a new router on Tuesday. UPS doesn't work on the weekends, but they do overnight them so Tuesday it is-or it was supposed to be. I called back this morning and guess what? "Ma'am, I'm sorry there was no order placed for a router. We have a record of your call, but no order was placed. And, ma'am, we don't usually overnight things, but I'll put a note to do so if possible." Wouldn't you think that somewhere in the Verizon world, the same message would be communicated to all employees AND I could speak to at least ONE competent Verizon employee. This is why George said he didn't feel like messing with the problem and made me call Verizon. Except now I am having internet and e-mail withdrawals. So how am I on the internet now? I made nice with my sister and brought her lunch so I could use her internet.

I'll post an update for our doctor's visit as soon as internet is up and running. Now, I need to pay some bills ONLINE so I don't get a late fee. Do you think Verizon would cough up late fee money, too? Wishful thinking...

Giggling Girls

I was packing up some parts to their Pack n' Play into a huge Ziploc bag and for some reason Hannah just thought the noises I was making with it was hilarious. Sorry, the camera shakes so much. It's because I was shaking the bag to make the noise. One of the great things about twins is that while it is twice the work, it's also twice the giggles. Hope you think it's as sweet as I did!

Fever Update

Kate has been fever free since yesterday morning! She has been drooling A LOT lately so I'm thinking that maybe she's getting her top teeth in? I can't feel anything yet, but it's a possibility. Hannah never got the fever, even after sharing food out of the same bowl and off of the same spoon. Thanks for your prayers!

UPDATED: Hannah does have a slight fever now. I guess it gives me a reason to be lazy and hang out around the house all day (oops...did I just admit to taking advantage of my baby's sickness?)
