Hannah and Kate had their 6 month checkup with their pediatrician this morning. Here's a brief synopsis:
Hannah-Hannah weighs 12 lbs. 1 oz. (up from 8 lbs. 13 oz @ 4 months, putting her in the 50th percentile), length is 21 3/4 inches (putting her in the 5th percentile-my little munchkin), and head circumference was 15 3/4 inches (not an exciting measurement). The doctor said she was growing great. Hannah has also been waking very early from her naps this week. She sleeps for about 30-45 minutes and then is wide awake. I'm hoping she's just going through a growth spurt and waking for more food rather than dreaded naptime issues.
Kate-Kate weighs 14 lbs. 7 oz. (up from 10 lbs., keeping her in the 90th percentile), length is 23 1/4 inches, and her head circumference was 16 inches. She is growing like a weed! She actually fits into 3-6 months clothing now.
The doctor also mentioned that I should start trying to give them rice cereal. Hmmm...another fun thing to add to the already adventerous mealtime. I might start that within the next couple of weeks. I was actually surprised that she mentioned starting them already because their adjusted age is still fairly young and they aren't meeting some of the "signals for solids" that I've read babies generally show when they are ready for them. We'll see though...can't hurt to try, right? I'm also trying to transition them to a 4 hour eating schedule. Life has been pretty hectic around here the last week so we haven't really done this wholeheartedly, but I'm hoping to start next week. That's about it from here.
