So I've always wondered how much the girls' hospital stay cost. Today after dealing with an insurance issue I decided to add up all of the claims that were filed while they were in the NICU. Take a wild guess....I'll tell you after the pictures. I think the smiles in the pictures show you just how much they are worth every penny. Maybe the insurance company doesn't feel that way, but we do.

And the total is...$793,914.11. Keep in mind that this is only after they were born. This doesn't include all of the time that I spent in the hospital nor the numerous ultrasounds I had done. Hannah was in the NICU for 10 weeks and that cost $534,433.12. Kate was in the NICU for 5 weeks and that cost $259,480.99. Amazing, huh? We switched medical insurance companies at the beginning of the year and I'm quite sure that Cigna was only so eager to see us go. Praise God that out of all of that, we only paid about $300. Cigna never caught on to the fact that I had two babies in the NICU and never charged us the admission copay for Kate, but they have tried to charge us twice for the times when Hannah was transferred to and fro from St. Joseph's. I'm currently challenging that charge.
Given that amount, can you imagine what the octuplet mother is paying or rather what all of the taxpayers are paying to support her 8 preemies?
So, I have finally decided that at least Kate looks like Lauren. The first picture reminds me of a baby picture of Lauren. The girls are so adorable!
